Where you stand: Quad's estimate, your courses, and how each college reads a record

Every college page now says how that college reads an application, you can list your advanced courses and see them against what your high school offers, and Quad's own estimate sorts colleges into Reach, Target, or Likely with what went into it.

What's new

  • How each college reads a record. A few plain sentences at the top of each college's admissions page say what it weighs most, how many of its first-years had a 3.75 or higher (when most do, a high GPA rarely sets anyone apart), how many sent test scores, how it uses class rank, which courses it expects, and, where the college says so, how it reads your intended major. Compare shows the same side by side.
  • Your courses, against your school. List your AP, IB, dual-enrollment, and honors courses with their grades, taken and planned, on your profile or in your plan. The site reads them the way a counselor does: against what your own high school offers. College pages show how your courses line up with what each college recommends.
  • The admit rate for your pool. Where a college publishes it, you see the rate for applicants like you: from your state, for your major, or guaranteed by a state program (Texas top 10%, UT Austin's top 5%, the UC system's local guarantee, Wisconsin, Arizona, Idaho).
  • Quad's estimate. Reach, Target, or Likely for each college, from your numbers, your courses, your pool, and the college's own filings, with a "What went into this estimate" panel. It's on college pages, in your plan, and in Compare. Never a percentage.
  • Next year's courses. When it's time to pick classes, the plan suggests up to two advanced courses your school offers, each with its reason, and says plainly when strong grades matter more than adding another. AP exam sign-up, exam, and score dates are on the calendar.
  • How well it did. If you choose to share your results, they help check the estimate; the Data page will publish how well it did each season.
  • Plan fixes. You can take a college off your plan with the × at the end of its row. A parent's "Add to list" now saves to their child's list (with more than one child, it asks which). A parent opening the empty list of a child who hasn't joined the household yet is told why it's empty and how to send the invitation. The plan's child switcher shows only the children in your household, so a child who joined with their own account no longer appears twice.

Behind the scenes

The estimate runs only on Quad's servers, and the site shows what it used, never how the pieces are combined. The admission-program and major-admission details were gathered from colleges' and states' published statements and will be re-checked against each live page before launch.
