What's new
- Profile → Campus life: more colleges now show facts read from their own pages, including Florida State, Auburn, LSU, Clemson, Iowa, Virginia Tech, UC Berkeley, Minnesota, Michigan State, TCU, Villanova, and Yale: their fraternity and sorority councils and chapter counts, and policies such as chosen names on records and gender-inclusive housing. Each fact links to the page it came from and the date we checked it.
- Fewer, surer facts: some colleges no longer show an LGBTQ+ center, a nondiscrimination answer, or council membership read from their own pages. Our checks found these kinds of facts were wrong too often, for example a short notice read as the whole policy. Where a national organization lists the center or policy, the profile still shows it, credited.
Behind the scenes
- The third test run of reading colleges' own pages cost about a quarter as much per college as the first, and now reads fraternity and sorority reports linked from each college's office.
- Every run is checked against facts gathered by hand. Only kinds of facts that are right about 95% of the time appear on the site.
